  • To promote inter-disciplinary research and collaboration
  • To encourage faculty members to pursue a PhD.
  • To encourage the active participation of faculty members in Seminars/ Conference/ Workshops
  • To encourage research publications
  • To encourage students participation in Faculty/ Departmental research projects
  • To develop research collaborations with other organizations
  • Special leave to teachers engaging in research

Areas of Research and Research Facilities

  • RESEARCH DOMAINS
  • Nanotechnology

Preparation of Graphite Oxide and its application in antibacterial action. I BSc students have done preparation of Graphene Oxide starting from Graphite and purification did.

  • Nanobiotechnology

I and II Bsc Biotechnology students isolated silver nanoparticles from Ocimum Sanctum and investigated the antibacterial properties. This work was presented in a National Level Conference at Soundarya Institute of Technology, Bangalore.

  • Nano Thermo Electric Materials

I and II Bsc Physics students synthesized thermoelectric nanomaterial namely Zinc Antimonite, Zinc Nitrate and Zinc Nitrate hexahydrate by mechanical grinding and sintering methods for thermoelectric energy conversion application, under the able guidance of Prof. Latha Kumari, Dept. of Physics, BMS College of Engineering.

  • Computer Science
  • Computer Application: Final year BCA and BSc students have created web-based projects like Attendance Management System, Placement Activity, prediction of Heart Attack, Pest Management and Municipal Corporation System etc.,
  • Computer Network and Security: Final year BCA students have done a project on “Fraud Detection in Online Shopping”.

Retail Sector:

Students of II BCom are given research project in Retail Sector on topics like GST and Demonetization using questionnaires and statistical tools they make analysis and draw conclusions on ‘Impact of GST and Demonetisation on Retail Sectors’.

  • Plant Science - Seed Health Testing:

Seed testing to determine the standards of a Seed lot- physical purity, moisture, germination % age, vigour and contamination by fungal and bacterial pathogens. The tests were conducted using blotter test and calculating germination root/shoot length and seedling vigour. The tests were repeated on nutrient media to calculate germination percentage and bacterial/ fungal infections.

  • Humanities:

In Association with NSS students, the Department of Sociology conducted Village Survey on ‘Socio-Economic Status of Villages’ at Kambalu, Shivagange.
